History
With the establishment of the cafe in 1998, we have have been providing and promoting a cannabis-friendly culture. The Amsterdam Cafe has been a safe haven for the cannabis curious during times of stigma and uncertainty. We have witnessed firsthand how cannabis has gradually become accepted in both a social and legal realm. The world has looked to us for leadership in how safe and public cannabis consumption impacts communities.
The Amsterdam Cafe is often the first stop for visiting Cannabis lovers, a pilgrimage north to the OG spot that has been the centre of cannabis culture in Canada since 1998. We are passionate about sharing fun and healthy experiences. As the first Cannabis company in Canada, the Amsterdam Cafe has been a gathering place of innovators and interesting types to for many years. The Amsterdam Cafe has a diverse mix of local and visitors and lifestyles, by creating an accessible stigma free space it opens space for people to create new perspectives and shared experiences.
The art on the walls, the rotating displays in the front window, the hand-crafted food and beverages, and even our awesome selection of merch, has been carefully curated by the members of our community for the members of our community. The Amsterdam Cafe is a Canadian business operating on Indigenous territory, both treaty and unceded (stolen) lands.
