Meet Kelly & Todd
We’re more than just a café — we’re caretakers of community, connection, and welcoming hospitality. Every detail, from thoughtfully chosen flavours to the atmosphere we create, is shaped by a commitment to quality and care. Beyond what’s served, our greatest purpose is bringing people together, fostering belonging, and creating a space where meaningful moments can unfold every day.

Kelly Marlow
After 33 years as a nurse and healthcare leader, I chose courage over comfort. In 2015, a visit to New Amsterdam Café in Vancouver planted a seed I couldn’t ignore. This space is the result of years of dreaming, planning, and believing that community matters. New chapter. Same heart for people. Different kind of care.

Todd Hauck
Todd Hauck is a longtime member of the Edmonton arts community, and just can’t wait to open up this amazing place in the heart of it all. After owning a business in the oil and gas sector for many years, he then dipped his hand in classic car sales for a time (another long time passion of his) but the pull to own his own business again was just to strong too ignore, especially with the opportunity to have his incredible sister as his partner! He can’t wait to see you all in what is surely going to be the greatest spot in the city!
About NEW AMSTERDAM YEG
New Amsterdam Cafe Edmonton is the next chapter of a space rooted in community, connection, and courage. Brought to life by siblings and lifelong best friends Todd and Kelly, this Whyte Avenue home carries forward the spirit of the original Vancouver cafe while creating something uniquely local—a welcoming place to gather, unwind, and feel at home.
We believe meaningful spaces begin with meaningful relationships. That’s why New Amsterdam Cafe Edmonton is built on community, trusted partnerships, and a shared commitment to creating something welcoming, responsible, and lasting.
At the heart of this vision are siblings and lifelong best friends Todd Hauck and Kelly Marlow, whose shared journey has shaped the spirit of New Amsterdam Café Edmonton. Todd, a longtime member of Edmonton’s arts community and an experienced entrepreneur, has spent years building businesses and creative connections across the city. Kelly, after 33 years as a nurse and healthcare leader, chose courage over comfort to follow a dream first sparked during a visit to New Amsterdam Café in Vancouver in 2015. Together, they bring a lifetime of resilience, compassion, and belief in community to Whyte Avenue—creating a space designed to welcome, connect, and feel like home.
